StorCycle target locations are where source data is sent to and where data is restored from.
Essentially, Target locations are network shares or buckets.
Note: AWS Glacier has been deprecated as a supported Target endpoint. Instead, Standard AWS S3 bucket policies should be used if data sent to S3 must be managed in AWS Glacier Tier. StorCycle will use the standard S3 Target endpoint for both standard AWS and AWS Buckets with Glacier tier for both archive and restore.
Supported Targets | Use With |
Spectra BlackPearl |
Spectra Logic BlackPearl Nearline Systems. On-Site Object Storage disk or Gateway to Spectra Tape Library |
Spectra NAS | Spectra BlackPearl NAS and Spectra Verde Systems |
NAS | CIFS and NFS Shares |
S3 | AWS S3, Google Cloud Platform, BlackPearl S3, Vail, other generic S3 devices or platforms Note: AWS Glacier has been deprecated from a supported target. If using AWS Glacier tier, use StorCycle S3 target endpoint and configure approrpiate policies on AWS S3 bucket. |

Spectra Logic's BlackPearl Nearline system is a gateway to on-site Object and Tape Storage. Spectra's BlackPearl nearline system provides bucket landing zones for StorCycle data. In BlackPearl, bucket policies are assigned which manage the lifecycle of the data.
For example, a policy can be configured on a BlackPearl bucket which writes two copies of data to the tape library and another copy to a local object storage system.
Within the StorCycle configuration, Administrators can create new BlackPearl buckets, assign existing bucket policies, or configure existing buckets as a landing zone.
Spectra Logic's BlackPearl NAS system provides an excellent tier-2 landing zone for archive and project data.
When used as a target location, StorCycle can manage a BlackPearl NAS system to maintain the volume in a read-only state when data is not being archived or accessed. StorCycle can also be configured to initiate snapshots of the BlackPearl NAS volume at the end of every migrate/store or delete job.
CIFS or NFS shares can be configured as Target locations.
S3 Targets can be configured which support AWS S3, Google Cloud Platform, BlackPearl S3, Spectra Vail, and other generic S3 devices or platforms.
MS Azure uses a non-standard S3 implementation and requires a dedicated Target endpoint for configuration.
